SPEAKERS ON THE ROCKS, March 17 2022

Our most recent Speakers Event took place Thursday 17th of March, as usual during Thrive 15h-16h! Navigating through concerning times with crisis beyond the good old traditional teenage turmoil, we see the importance of having a sense for, and support of our own mental and physical wellbeing!

Ana Maloney, a clinical psychologist, and Ramzi Asfour, a medical doctor specialised in Functional Medicine, both parents of Mougins School students, have thankfully teamed up and will bring us a short and helpful introduction to states of mental and physical wellbeing and how to improve it.

Students of Forms 9 to 13 as well as interested parents learn how our physical and emotional experience is strongly influenced by our three autonomic nervous system states.  They will hear how to better identify their own state of mind and body and they will be taught bio hacks to better manage physical and emotional stress.

Please, dear parents, feel warmly invited to this event and beware that this will replace Thrive activities for Forms 9-13. Snacks and beverages will be for sale and you might want to give a bit of money to your kids. As the event will take place outside, please take adequate clothing and encourage your kids to do so as well. In case of very poor weather, the event will be postponed to a later date with short notice.

Thursday, November 18th, "1001 Ways to Architect and Design"

On Thursday November 18th, 2022 the second "Speakers on the Rock" event took place during Thrive, from 15h-16h00. All secondary school students, their teachers and interested parents with sanitary pass are invited to attend the outdoor "on the rocks" session with the title "1001 Ways to Architecture". In case of poor weather, the session will need to take place inside, in the sports' hall, and parents would not be able to come.

Three parents from Mougins School, Chantal Dussouchaud, Leila Rossi and Siren Beckmann give our kids the immense pleasure to take a look behind the scenes of architecture and design. These three professionals who have come from the most diverse backgrounds and have succeeded in the arena of architecture and design, each time carried by a different passion.

Our speakers will let the audience learn about the multi-disciplinary and colourful field of architecture and will also share that not all careers go straight according to plan.

Mougins School students will learn more about professions ranging from architect over interior architect to Architectural Design and Art, will understand the colourful facettes of each and get an impression on the work possibilities available. As Building and Designing in real estate is the work of a multi-disciplinary team, our speakers will also point out a certain number of professions linked to architecture and interior design, and give advice on how to enter the field for those who are interested.

The event will be held in an interactive classroom style and students will be invited to ask questions and seek advise.

Friday, October 1st, 2022 "The Company I choose"

Our first session,  Friday, Oct 1st, featuring Harry Dolman and Ivan Bascle, is titled "The Company I choose". Ivan and Harry, both Mougins School dads,  will speak to the entire Secondary (Forms 7-13) during Thrive time and will trigger thinking in Mougins School students, like:

What environment do I need to flourish? What types of companies are out there and what impact do company size, culture, industry, and governance have on their employees and managers? What factors in each company type might I consider positive and which negative given my interest and personality?

Both speakers have extensive experience working in and with companies of different sizes. They believe that professional choices are often made through the lens of fame, image, and money, whilst other important factors that make us happy and help us grow to our full potential are insufficiently taken into consideration.Â
