Ski Club

If you already put away your paddleboard, you probably noticed your ski equipment quietly waiting for the start of the new season. The latest information we have is that Auron and Isola 2000 should / could / would open on December 4th. Riserva Bianca Limone Piemonte, we call it Limone, in Italy’s Piemonte, could be as early as November 27th. Gréolières’ snow is unpredictable, and we have no opening date yet.

We will bring you more information on ski centers within a day-trip driving distance from School in upcoming PTA Newsletters. Anyone interested in contributing to this column, or in helping organising ski trips, can contact ski-club@mougins-school-pta.com. You can also join our PTA Ski Club WhatsApp group HERE (or by pointing your phone’s camera on the Ski Club QR Code).

Did you know about the new «Loi Montagne»?

Winter tires, or snow equipment such as chains and sleeves, are now mandatory for driving in mountain towns in France, including Gréolières, Auron, and Isola 2000, from November 1st to March 31st. Italy is from November 15 to April 15.

If you are serious about skiing, winter tires are a must. Otherwise, you need to have tire chains or sleeves available in your trunk (boot) when traveling in designated areas. You should know we have seen many people stopped by the side of the road, struggling to install chains or sleeves, only to have their driving speed slowed down to a crawl. While you may not be issued tickets (PV's) if you are not so equipped, we have seen roadblocks and cars being turned back during snowfalls.
