PTA Voluntary Contribution 2024/2025 - The Winners!

Thank you so much to the 150+ students, parents, and teachers who voted on this year’s shortlist of PTA Voluntary Contribution ideas.

With a budget of €14,718, we are thrilled to announce the winning ideas, listed in order of priority:

1. Kilter Board - €8,000

2. Media Studio - €2,000

3. Charlie & The Chocolate Factory- €1,000

A total of €11,000 will be allocated to implement these projects, with an additional 20% contingency set aside to cover any unexpected costs associated with their delivery.

If the contingency remains unused by Spring 2025, we may also be able to fund the fourth-place project: a Mougins School Mascot.

As with last year, the winners were selected using a weighted voting system. The graph below shows the full voting results:

Enhancing Our School Community Through PTA Voluntary Contributions

Mougins School proudly offers parents the opportunity to directly contribute to our students' educational experience through voluntary contributions to the Parent Teacher Association (PTA). These funds are vital in supporting innovative projects and initiatives within our school.

At the beginning of each school year, we invite our school community — students, parents, and teachers — to submit project proposals using the official PVC form. Submissions should include detailed research, a realistic scope for completion within the school year, and a well-thought-out budget, including links to necessary items.

Our Selection Committee, composed of students, senior leadership team members, and PTA representatives, diligently reviews and shortlists these ideas. Student participation is central to this process, fostering a vibrant discussion and critical evaluation of each proposal.

This initiative enriches our school's offerings and strengthens our community's collaborative spirit. We encourage active participation in this process, fostering a more dynamic and enriched learning environment for our students.

PVC 2024/2025

Over 120 families kindly contributed to the PTA Parent Voluntary Contribution in their School Contract this year and the School will shortly transfer to the PTA an amount of €18,000. As per last year, these funds will be kept and managed separately from the PTA Treasury and be available to fund ideas that benefit our students and the Mougins School community.

Starting on Wednesday 18th September students, teachers, staff and parents are invited to submit their ideas for how the funds should be spent this year. The process for submitting ideas is similar to last year and outlined in detail below. There are a few things we wish to highlight upfront:

- We are offering in-person ‘Help Sessions’ which we hope everyone wishing to submit an idea will take advantage of. Please come to see our team on the dates/times listed below so we can discuss your idea and help ensure your idea submission is complete and deliverable in principle.

- No ideas which require building and/or erecting new infrastructure. The school is on protected land so anything that requires drilling into the ground is unlikely to be approved by the authorities. This is very unfortunate but we learnt this from previous years.

- We are open for idea submissions for 3 weeks and please ensure you use this time to include an accurate budget as this gives us more chance to be able to deliver your idea.

- All students' submission forms should include the contact details of one or more parents who are going to actively help deliver the idea with them if they win.

We are delighted to announce that Louise Peeters and Ingrid Zisermann have agreed to share the role of PTA Parent Voluntary Contribution Coordinator and they provisionally join the PTA Leadership Team now with a formal vote at the PTA AGM in November. Louise and Ingrid will initiate the project submission and selection process together with Rhoan Morgan our PTA Vice-President. They can be reached via their joint email below at any time.

The Process & Timeline 2024/2025

Wednesday, September 18th - We are ready to receive your ideas!

Starting next Wednesday all students, parents and teachers are encouraged to submit ideas using the official form (see Project Proposal Form above). A realistic and researched budget including links to purchasable items must be included. Examples could include moveable gazebo’s for outdoor learning, landscape design, filtered water bottle filling stations, movable outdoor agility equipment and a rainwater harvesting system.

Help sessions
Please use the upcoming ‘Help Sessions’ to ensure your idea submissions are complete:

• In person student and teacher support outside the main office, Tuesday 24th September and Thursday 3rd October from 12.00hrs - 14.00hrs

• In person parent support outside Gate 2, Tuesday 24th September from 15.00hrs - 16.15hrs

Wednesday, October 9, 17.00hrs - Deadline for Idea Submissions

Tuesday, October 15th - Selection Committee Meeting / Shortlisting of Ideas
The Selection Committee comprised of six Students, three Mougins School Senior Leadership Team members and three PTA members will review and shortlist the ideas. Last year we had over 10 qualified projects submitted by parents, teachers and students!

Friday, October 18th - All submitters of ideas will be contacted
We will provide feedback to advise if the idea was shortlisted or not and explain why. If your idea is shortlisted you will be asked to prepare a short presentation outlining your idea.

Wednesday, October 30th - Finalist Presentations online & Voting Begins
Submitters of the shortlisted ideas are required to present a one to two minute Google Slide presentation on a Zoom call where all students, teachers, and parents can attend to learn about the projects. Online voting opens immediately afterwards.

Monday, November 4th - Voting closes
The highest ranked idea/s with the most votes are then selected for implementation.

Wednesday, November 13th - Winners announced to our community!

Thursday, November 21st - Results of the vote ratified at the PTA AGM and the winning projects start to be implemented thereafter!

Thanks to all the families who have contributed to the PTA Parent Voluntary Contribution already. For those who haven’t yet, we hope that the ideas and projects selected over the coming months will encourage you to give your support to this worthwhile initiative. Additional funds will allow us to deliver more ideas!
